Why Vancouver Will Prosper In 2021 and Beyond!
Vancouver is the lifestyle capital of the world. With our scenic ocean beaches, gorgeous greenspaces and stunning North Shore Mountains, Vancouver offers every outdoor sport and adventure imaginable. We are an ethnically diverse, cosmopolitan city with low population density and we value our freedom of speech and universal health care. With some of the lowest COVID-19 case numbers in the western world, Vancouverites take pride in the way they’ve worked together to handle the pandemic. That said, we look forward to continuing to welcome the world with health and prosperity in the future. Here is an elaboration on the five main reasons why Vancouver has earned its international reputation for being the gem of the world and why we will continue to prosper into 2021 and beyond!
1. Lifestyle Capital of the World:
Beautifully located on the Pacific Ocean and nestled up against the North Shore Mountains, Vancouver is truly the lifestyle capital of the world. From skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling to biking, hiking, camping, tennis and golf, Vancouver offers everything for the year-round outdoor enthusiast. With nine local beaches and countless parks, Vancouverites can swim, sunbathe and picnic while taking in glorious mountain, water and city views.
We are also a lifestyle leader in sustainability as we proudly strive towards our goal to become the greenest city in the world. Our outstanding air quality, walkability and environmental initiatives are valued and closely maintained. We have many designated bicycle routes and excellent public transportation, allowing us to offer clean, convenient alternatives to driving. To further our sustainability, the downtown core was successfully planned so residents live, work and play in its urban center.
2. Low Density:
Even though Canada is the second largest country in the world with a population of 37.5 million, the city of Vancouver has low density. Neighbourhoods relatively close to the downtown area still have low residential numbers and feature natural, park-like settings. In addition to our vibrant downtown residential area, our city center is home to the world-renowned, Stanley Park, one of the largest urban parks in North America.
3. Freedom of Speech:
Vancouverites prize freedom of speech and respect each other’s opinions. We value entrepreneurship and have high social values. Whether you are politically aligned right or left, your voice matters. Our protests are peaceful and recognized as important for dialogue and the foundation of humanity.
4. Health Care:
We have unparalleled, high-quality universal health and dental care that is accessible to all. It is part of every Canadian’s right to have health care and access to specialists without having to subscribe or pay like people do in other countries. We understand that looking after our health is paramount to the well-being of society.
5. COVID-19 Pandemic:
We are the envy of the world in how we have handled the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though we are one of the major cities in the world with a population of 2.5 million, we have some of the lowest COVID case numbers in the western world. The largest contributing factor to our success is the leadership from British Columbia’s public health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, and that our employers and general public have both been mostly very compliant with the established guidelines. We should commend ourselves on the exceptional collaborative effort on all our parts as we embark on a new chapter ahead.
Vancouver consistently ranks as one of the most livable cities in the world. It is understandable when you consider our unparalleled lifestyle, democratic values, universal health care and the way we join as one in a crisis. We are proud to be the lifestyle capital of the world and look forward to prospering together in 2021 and well beyond!
