CLOCKS FALL BACK, BUT THE MARKET SPRINGS AHEAD
The holiday season is just around the corner and Metro Vancouver’s real estate market is active. With plenty of inventory to choose from, November is an excellent month to consider you real estate goals for the year.
The total number of properties currently listed for sale on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) in Metro Vancouver is up 13.2% compared to the same time last year. This is 35.9% above the 10-year seasonal average. The benchmark price for a detached home remains similar to last month
at $1,916,400.
In September, the Bank of Canada cut its key interest rate again by a quarter percentage to 2.25%. This is welcome news for both buyers and sellers and also those with mortgages coming up for renewal. This was the bank’s second consecutive cut, and the fourth cut this year. The current rate is the lowest in three years.
Governor Tiff Macklam suggested that it may be the bank’s last rate cut for a while. With near-record high inventory levels and favorable borrowing costs, there is currently plenty of opportunity for those looking to purchase a home in Metro Vancouver.
