As another year comes to a close and the holiday season is in full swing, Metro Vancouver’s real estate market is wrapping up on a positive note.
Real estate analysts are predicting national home sales to increase 3.4% next year. One in 10 Canadians are planning on buying a home in the next 12 months, according to a recently published Leger survey. High inventory and lower interest rates are creating excellent opportunities for Metro Vancouver buyers and sellers.
Families, new Canadians and retirees drove a larger share of sales across Canada in 2025. In previous years, first-time buyers lead sales across most Canadian markets. There were 189,000 properties listed for sale across Canada at the end of October, according to the latest data from the Canadian Real Estate Association. This is up 7.2% from 2024.
Real estate analysts are also predicting borrowing costs to remain steady in the new year. This is good news for both buyers and sellers. Lower rates allow more people to qualify for loans and mortgage-holders receive relief on their borrowing costs. The total number of properties listed on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is up 14.4% compared to the same time last year.
